Typing Without Thinking

I began a post last night and pushing eight hundred words it seemed I was just getting into the story, so today I will work on it a bit more and try to keep myself from writing a book.

How many times does this happen, you just get on a roll and fill the page with more words than you realize, while at other sittings you can't come up with the first sentence.

I find my best writing comes when I just sit down and type without over thinking it, and most times my idea for a story ends up going another direction, because topics come from many places. Simply a word or statement can turn into a whole story, a picture of someone will remind me of an experience from the past, or a new experience that is coming.

I want to thank everyone for following along, I sure enjoy all of your comments and welcome any suggestions at anytime. Anyone who was following Jimmy's Opinion before will need to follow along again simply because I picked up a shorter address, just hit the follow button and I will be right back on your dashboard like before.

Just this past year we have had many visits from the kids, experiences with Benjamin our grandson, and a trip to South Carolina that gave me a lot of writing material to catch you all up on our lives.

This is where I was taking you when my story began last night, but for now rather than write a book I'm going to say Happy Sunday and thank you all for being with us, because without you, all of my stories would just be words on paper so to say.

Where do your ideas for posts come from, and do you plan them out or just wing it?

  1. For me, stories are like batches of cookies pulled from the oven. never one but an entire tray. I wish I had the ability to create stories whenever I want but the best I can do is be ready when ideas spring to mind. I also create lists of ideas for when the well goes dry.

    1. Creating a list of ideas is a smart thing to do, I may have to do that myself, the batch of cookies explanation is an excellent way to describe it.

  2. Lots of ideas from Mrs. C, lots of ideas come from my incessant yammering, lots of ideas from other bloggers. Like you I seldom end a post the way I thought I would, they often just morph in other directions.

    1. Hi Joe, Yes a lot of good ideas come for me after reading other bloggers, it seems we all feed off of one another in a sense when certain topics arise.

  3. I rarely write anything, as the words rarely come.

    1. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I remember some photos that you share that are that indeed, and the words that you do share are well worth the wait :)

  4. I get my best ideas and write my best blog posts in the middle of the night in my head that I promptly forget by morning. Most of the things come spur of the moment and I can be verbose, but I'm working on that.

I hope your Sunday is a restful one!

    1. Hey Betty, the spur of the moment ideas that have been forgotten are too many to count for me, I am sure a lot come back eventually.

A lot of times an idea comes while I am reading, I downloaded a wordpad app on my Kindle and have begun writing some there, this post came this morning entirely written and posted from my Kindle, I guess there is an app for most anything.

A Great Sunday to you also Betty

Yes, that's happened to me many times, Jimmy. I seem to get my inspiration for my posts either late at night or early in the morning. Usually for me it's spontaneous, but sometimes I will see a photograph or read a post on someone else's blog that will cause me to get an idea for a post.

I mainly write about life experiences, so my blog posts usually come from observations and experiences I've had. I also post on many different topics so I've never had a blog that covers only one thing.

Hope you had a super Sunday, buddy!

Say Hi to Cindy for me!

    1. "I also post on many different topics so I've never had a blog that covers only one thing" this is one thing I love about our blogs, the subject matter covers just about anything, I have had blogs and sites that are spot on just one subject and I so much prefer what we are doing now.

Cindy says to tell you Hi Buddy :)

  6. Like Ron, I get my ideas from life experiences and the many absurdities I see. Have to share them with someone!

    1. Isn't it amazing how much subject matter there is just in our daily lives, gotta love that.

  8. As you know, I do more "shutter clicking" than typing. Once I post a picture, there's always a sentence or two I can come up with. Except, of course, on Wordless Wednesdays!

    1. The pictures you post tell a story themselves, the sentences you add help explain except for Wordless Wednesday in which there is no explanation needed ;)

  9. Not that I post "written" blog posts that often anymore, but when I get an idea, I go to my dashboard, make a quick draft and include a couple of lines as a reminder. I think I have about a hundred of them now.

    1. That is actually a good idea Pat, this way you can go back and finish them later on and publish when you are ready.
