My Perfect Perspective

There are so many different opinions on perfection, magazines and the media have an opinion of perfection that our young people feel they have to match, doing things correctly the very first time and with no mistakes is another definition of perfection that we all feel we have to match.

Myself I have never been one to think that the “dolled up beauty” they flash on the commercials or silver screen was ever very pretty, but that girl or woman who is rushing out to the store or mailbox in her shirt and jeans without the time to have put on her makeup is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, so with that said I think God creates beauty and we are all beautiful in our own way, we don’t need to duplicate someone else’s looks to be beautiful, just look in the mirror before you add any makeup or hair color, right after you have gotten yourself cleaned up, brushed your teeth and combed your hair, look right into those eyes looking back at you from the mirror and there you will see God’s definition of perfection, how much more beautiful can you get than that.

I have been told that I am a perfectionist when it comes to tasks, yes I want everything to go well and I want to repair or create my projects right the first time and it does frustrate me when I make a mistake, to top it off after I am done I sit back and think how I could have done it better. But thinking about it, what actually is perfection and am I really a perfectionist, perfect question in my opinion and my answer would be, as long as we are striving to do things and learning from our mistakes along the way then we are living a perfect life.

So look in the mirror again at the person who tried to get things done right today and may or may not have accomplished them all, as long as you are taking care of yourself and trying to do things right then you are looking at perfection no matter what those in the magazines and media try to tell you.

God makes us perfect; we just have to accept the fact that we are already there.

  1. I love the way you put it! Looking in the mirror and seeing myself the way God wants me to look is a great way to silence the naysayers and trendsetters. I think I will use that with Sprite. Thanks! You're linked and welcome to the Spin Cycle!

  2. "I am a perfectionist when it comes to tasks, yes I want everything to go well and I want to repair or create my projects right the first time...."

OMG, I'm the SAME WAY, Jimmy! This is something about my personality that I have really tried to let go of because it can become obsessive if I don't find a balance. I see nothing negative about being a perfectionist, as long as I know I did my best and accept that.

"God makes us perfect; we just have to accept the fact that we are already there."

    Yup!

FAB post, buddy! Thanks for sharing!

    Have a super weekend!

  3. It's funny how we all view perfection differently. Some people are perfectionists when it comes to everything, while others are just the opposite with everything. For me, I'm somewhere in between. When it comes to my job at work, I want everything done right. It has to be just right. But at home, I tend to have the "it's good enough" mentality.

  4. Thank You Jen, I’m proud to have you stop by and feel strongly about what I said, We all are beautiful by God’s standards and I am honored for you to share this with Sprite.

  5. Hey Ron, You being a perfectionist somehow doesn’t surprise me, I suppose we can spot each other Ha Ha

“I see nothing negative about being a perfectionist, as long as I know I did my best and accept that.”

Amen Buddy that’s it we have to accept who we are and what we can accomplish, because any more than that, we are then attempting to be something else.

  6. Matty, Yes Sir there are many different views on this one, being perfect or deciding that it’s good enough depends on what you are doing, I have a feeling that if you are a perfectionist at work the just good enough at home is a bit better than that.

  9. Well, most say 'Nobody's perfect,' but I like your take on it, Jimmy. I wonder how different the world would be if there were no mirrors?

  10. Hey Coco, A world with no mirrors just may not be a bad thing come to think about it, most do say "Nobody's Perfect" but we just have to accept that we just may be :)

  11. YAY Jimmy! Great Spin! I love the way you look at things and I'll have to remember to take a closer look at myself in the mirror as God intended me to be!

  13. I do try to be "practically perfect"in all that I do but alas I know there is no such thing as perfection. I think there is trying hard and accepting and embracing what you have and learning to love that. For me, that is my definition of perfection. I think being diabetic makes you think really hard about always trying to be in "perfect" range when in fact we must accept that this will never be. But almost perfect isn't too bad...is it?

  14. I really enjoyed your spin. I guess we all have certain things we try to do as right as possible and other things we are more easygoing about.

  15. Beautiful Jimmy!

Seems to me a person's beauty is on the inside. A great personality shines beauty and the soul is amazing. That is how God made us to be. Great spin and opinion. :-)

  16. Hey Susie, I agree with you in that dealing with diabetes forces us into striving for that perfect range all of the time, when in fact the not so perfect one that we can comfortably live with is actually perfect :^) accepting and embracing what you have and who you are is what makes you a perfect person no matter who you are, so with that said almost perfect looks pretty good to me.

  17. Pseudo, Thank You for stopping by and yes there are things we all take more seriously than others so to say and in my opinion these differences is what keeps life from becoming too boring.

  18. Good Morning Angelia, I so agree with you in that God made us exactly how we are and why should we change his work in the search for beauty when we already have it.

  19. I'm with you. I tell my girl students to look around at the women in their lives. Not one, not one looks like the model on television, movies, or in magazines.
In tasks, striving for perfection may be futile, but striving to achieve your best is always a rewarding feeling.

  20. HI-- this is ironic I read this post today b/c a few of us actually had this discussion on Face book yesterday. The media industry (news, music, magazines, movies etc) bear so much of thei burden. They keeo drilling the point home you are not "ideal" unless you look or act thus way. No wonder our young people have a low self worth..
I'm in agreement with you Jimmy.. Beauty is the bare faced people, unadorned and just being as God created them..

    Another thought provoking post!!!!

  21. Amen Ellie, I like how you put it to them, look around at the women in your lives rather than the ones on TV, I would feel a whole lot better knowing my Daughter looked up to someone who has an influence directly in her life rather than a dolled up “Icon” in the media.

The rewarding feeling from striving to do your best is a form of perfection in my opinion, Thank you for stopping by and hope to see you again.

  22. Good Morning Lynne, It’s too bad the media and such are allowed to give our Young people, heck all of us for that matter such low self esteem, I’d like to know why they have so much power in deciding what we should look like, God created us and I still say we are beautiful as is, like you said:

“Beauty is the bare faced people, unadorned and just being as God created them..”

I wish more people could see this and believe in themselves.
