Kind Of Like Royalty

Did you ever have a day where you were so nervous about something that you felt nothing would go right, but yet it does?

How about when you are getting ready to meet someone in person for the first time, especially when it’s someone that you really look up to and respect, like your favorite NASCAR driver, or a Celebrity, or even a Friend you met while blogging, kind of like Royalty, you get the idea.

I got up early this morning and began getting myself ready to go and meet up with such a person, I showered and shaved, combed my hair until it was perfect, woke up Cindy, had breakfast, then sat down to wait for time to go, it was only 7am at this time, only about five hours to go.

At a quarter after eleven I grabbed my hat and placed it upon my perfectly combed hair and followed Cindy out the door, heading for our local Mexican Restaurant.

Pat Tillett and I
There I kid you not I had the privilege to sit down for a fantastic meal with my wife Cindy, and a genuinely nice guy Pat Tillett from Patrick Tillett Extremely Overdue, if you know Pat you then you how great he is, if not then you should stop by and give him a visit, you will be glad you did.

Pat met us at the front door and led us to the table that he had already acquired, we sat down and discussed everything from our kids and grandkids, to posts we had made in the past that the other remembered, Pat and I even discussed and wondered how Cindy was going to eat that Giant Chimichanga she had on her plate, kind of made our meals look puny.

Blogging is kind of like telling your life story, or getting something off of your chest, we all say that we blog strictly for ourselves and not the comments, but Pat and I both agree that we have met a slew of good people through our blogs and their comments mean the world.

After lunch with Pat today I know that we have made a good friend, I pray that we can meet up again next time he and his wife come through town, until then we will keep in touch with he and all of our present and new friends that we blog with.

And also after lunch today Pat and I wonder how in the world that chimichanga disappeared so fast.

Do you have an experience to share where you met up with someone that you blog with?

  1. How fun to meet a fellow blogger! I have not had that opportunity, but maybe someday Ron will host a reunion for all of us.

Yes, Jimmy, I have. And just like you I was very nervous at first. Yet, two seconds after meeting them, it was as comfortable as if I was meeting someone who I had known forever! I've met many blogging friends in person, and I consider them as close a friend as I do the friends I know offline. And I hope that one day I will meet you and Cindy in person!

Glad you had a great time with Pat today!

    2. Like you said after sitting down with Pat it was just like we had known him forever, I guess in a sense we have.

Yes meeting up with you would be a lot of fun, I can see it now, me sitting back grinning while you and Cindy go at it like long lost siblings or something ha ha, laying all jokes aside it would really be a blast

  3. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog (A Bench With a View). How neat to meet a fellow blogger! Seems like you had a wonderful time too with Pat! Hope you can have another visit with him very soon!

I have met in "real life" two bloggers. One I'm still really good friends with even though she doesn't blog any more, but we keep up to date on Facebook. The other one, though lived in the same area that I did, we got together a few times but clicked better on blogs I think :) A lot had to do with things I was going through at the time.

It is always fun though to meet up with someone like this!

  4. Well look who's back in the blogoshere! I'm sure I'm not the only one who's wondered about you.

As for meeting my blog friends - not yet... but I know it will happen. I'm close to six years knowing some of them. I think I'd be nervous, too. Most of us like our followers and vice versa. I often wonder if I'd say or do something to mess up a good friendship if I met the friend in person. Deep down, though, I feel that it would be just as successful and your meeting with Pat, so I'll continue to look forward to it happening for me.

    Welcome back!

  5. How fabulous to meet a fellow blogger. I haven't had that pleasure, I'm afraid, but I can imagine it being an awesome experience. I think I live in the wrong country since most of my blogging friends are in the US.

I read your post about the heart attack and commented about it there. As I also said, it IS good to 'see' you again.

    1. Hi Valerie, this was a first for us and I was very happy with how well it went, it was like meeting up with an old friend, which in a sense it was.

Yes living "Across the Pond" would make meeting most of us difficult but you never know, it just may happen.

  13. So far I've met three fellow bloggers and was as nervous as you were. I kept wondering what they'd think of me in person, and "do I look fatter than they're expecting" (probably only a 'woman' thing) But so far, I've only seriously disliked one of them - and I mean SERIOUSLY disliked. lol And it wasn't him as much as it was his wife who threw me and Joe off balance.

    1. Was it one of those opposites attract relationships where she was absolutely nothing like him?

I was really happy to meet Pat, he and Cindy even seemed to get along real well :)

  14. Great post Jimmy! Who are those two good looking guys in the photo? I guess they were sitting at the table behind us. Thanks for saying all those nice things. I truly appreciate them and I can say the same things about you. I've also never met a fellow blogger, but I had a good feeling about it going well. You are truly are a southern gentleman and the picture of good health. It was also great meeting Cindy. The conversation between the three of us, flowed like we'd done it a hundred times before. I have to add, that it is REALLY good to see you blogging again. I'm headed back home tomorrow morning. I really enjoyed this trip!
