Benjamin Stayed Home

Sitting at the red light waiting for the left turn arrow, Tim and Randy our two sons were heading out Wednesday night to Wally World, Tim was going to buy Randy a belated Birthday gift. Benjamin wanted to go along for the ride and Tim being the good Daddy, grabbed him up and headed out the door, Elisa decided that she didn’t think Benjamin going along was a good idea, so with tears in Benjamins eyes Daddy left him behind.

The rest of the night ended up being a blur, the turn arrow came up, and Tim began his left turn while joking with his brother about something that doesn’t matter, what ended up mattering was the pickup truck that hit the passenger side of the van at about 60mph.

They say the van spun and ended up against the curb pointing back into the direction from which they had just come from. Who had the green light, and who was driving too fast in a 35mph zone, who knows at this point as when it came time to take statements, all the witnesses had disappeared. No one was ticketed but everyone got a written warning.

To make a long story short, bumps, cuts, bruises, stitches, and no broken bones, both boys are having a hard time breathing due to the seat belts that apparently did their jobs, and the van is now history, the boys are laughing today which I am proud to hear, but the sound in their voices tell me they will remember this one for a long time.

The Good Lord blessed them with safety during this crash and Mothers intuition told Elisa that it was a time for Benjamin to stay home.

  2. God is good. And sometimes a mother's intuition is to be obeyed. Glad everyone is ok.

    1. Hey MC, very true God is good and if you ignore a mother's intution you are asking for it in my opinion.

  4. Well thank the Lord that your sons were unhurt. Mother's intuition can always be relied on... I'm sure it must be a direction from God.

Yikes! What a blessing that no one was hurt, Jimmy!

And even more of a blessing that Benjamin's mother followed her intuition. As Valerie shared, I'm sure it was a direction from God :)

    Glad all is well, buddy!

    1. Hey Ron, looking at pictures of the van just makes you realize how lucky the boys were, Tim says the drivers side is bowed out also.

Valerie hit the nail on the head when she mentioned it was a direction from God to keep Benjamin home.

    1. I imagine Benjamin is getting a whole bunch of hugs, I'm having a hard time keeping Cindy in place, looks like our trip to NM will include squeezing the Grandbaby a bit more this time :^)

  8. They didn't come up with the phrase, "mom knows best," for no good reason. Of course, it didn't apply to my mom, but it sure did apply in this case! Scary stuff... Even though it's taking me a while to catch, I'm glad to see that you are back and posting as much, or more than ever!
