And Then There Were Fifty

Post number fifty and off to a good start, fifty is supposed to be some sort of milestone I suppose or a good starting point depending on how you look at it, or how old you are.

Fifty will be my age after my birthday in June and on my blog I have been sharing bits and pieces of those last fifty years within the last fifty posts, I promise there will be more to come in the next fifty and beyond.

So since I have been throwing around the number fifty and I yet to have fifty followers let me mention a few folks who have made this blog a whole lot more than worthwhile:

My very first follower was Susie at Life According to Dr. Susie Q, Susie was also the first one to comment on a post and has been there for every one since. Susie is a good friend and her blog along with all the ones on my Favorite Blogs list are well worth a visit.

My number fifty comment on a post came from my buddy Ron at Vent….a series of takes, Ron is also there for all of my posts and his sense of humor is something we all look forward to and appreciate:

The number Fifty comment came on my post Lord Have Mercy and here it is:

Awesome tribute, Jimmy!

I really got a sense of who your grandmother was from your words. And I have feeling that I would have loved her! I really enjoyed reading the whole thing about making snow ice cream because I never heard of that before.

It's true what you shared about the lessons taught by our elders, and to never be afraid to ask questions because the answers will be given to you in a way you will ALWAYS remember and appreciate.

Beautiful post, buddy!

My number one reason for this blog started out as a place to rant, rave, and vent on the news and just anything that was on my mind at the time, but it turned into a place to share some of my family and friends with you, I have made quite a few friends here and look forward to this as just a beginning.

My wife Cindy is the background for a lot of the posts and I do poke a little fun at her expense, I added her picture as the background picture for the blog and thank her for listening to all of my posts before they are released to you, and with this said she is my #1.

I really wanted to list everyone here and thank everyone for coming along for the ride, but will ask a favor, if you are reading this take a look at the list of blogs to the left and give them all a visit because we all feed off of each other so to say and from each others stories and poems come reminders and ideas for stories of our own, we are all in this together and I want to Thank You all.

  1. Oh boy, first, I want to congratulation you on your 50th post!

    Clap!...clap!...clap!

    Woo! Woo! Woo!

    You GO, Jimmy!

Isn't it amazing how fast time flies when you're blogging? Before you know it, you'll be at your 100th post, then 200th, then 300th.

I cannot tell you how honored I am to have been your 50th comment - YAY! It's been such a pleasure getting to know you and your family through this blog. It's funny, how we all seem to start writing our blogs with one intention, and then it changes. That's why I always share with people, that a blog has a life of it's own and will take us where we need to go.

I look forward to reading more of you posts, my friend! And thank you for introducing me to Dr. Susie Q. She's a GEM! And I will definately check out your blog roll throughout the next week!

    Have a grrrrrrrrrrrreat weekend!

  2. I've only done about 63, in almost a year. Go ahead, call me a slacker. I'm just better at commenting than posting... it's a brain thing.

  3. First let me say I am honored to be mentioned first among the many terrific blogs you follow! I have loved reading the 50 wonderful stories you have told in your first 50 blogs. It is so great to get to know someone through stories from their past. It builds a kind of foundation and connection to someone that is real and very important. When you just meet someone you really don't get to learn all the nooks and crannies of their life. I feel like I really have a great sense of who you are. You are kind, compassionate, funny and have the most wonderful sense of optimism. I am so happy to call you one of my dear friends and I wait every day to learn something else new about you. I really do hope to meet you and Cindy one day very soon.

    With deep friendship and caring,
    Susie

  4. Hey Ron,

It is pretty amazing at how fast the numbers go when you are posting, I really didn't think much about it and on the last one I noticed number 49, Wow I really didn't know I had that much to say Ha Ha

The 50th comment was yours my friend you should have seen me counting them up and skipping over all of mine, I had to start over a couple times and when it comes to the 100th we will see :^)

This has been quite a ride and we do feed off of each other in the process of our blogs coming to life,

Thank You Buddy for helping me along

  5. Ms A,

You are far from being a slacker, your blog is one of my favorites and I am blessed to have you as a friend also.

Brain thing I can relate to I was just talking with my wife this morning on how since I started this blog it is the only thing I can keep up with, everything else on the computer has taken a back burner but I suppose that is OK because you do what you enjoy and go at your own pace, you speak from the heart and that is what makes your blog so Great.

  6. Susie,

This experience has been so good for me and look at me making a big deal about fifty posts but to me it is a big deal working around such good people like yourself, it's good to go back and tell stories about yourself and your life, it helps me remember and memories are a good thing.

As I have mentioned I have met some good people here, I first met you through DD and we talked each other through a lot of diabetes issues, we then moved to California and it wasn't until we were here a few months that I found out that you are only I'm guessing about fifty miles from us, so with that said I have a feeling Cindy and I will be meeting up with you and Tim one day.

I am honored by your kind words and appreciate the friendship that you have shared with me.
