I was sharing some of the random comments I have saved with my friend John the other day, and Cindy is so proud to be able to hear them all whether she wants to or not, she is afraid that I will see she is laughing and come up with another one, random laughter is good for the soul and common sense when dealing with life’s struggles just makes you more responsible, laughing at others makes you feel good but being able to laugh at yourself is priceless.
If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?
Being popular is a big thing for a lot of people, remember the popular kids in school? You all have seen or either been that kid, they seem to know absolutely everyone and are always surrounded by followers begging for their attention so to say, being popular is not a bad thing but actually being liked for who you are is worth a whole lot more for me, so with that said the #2 pencil is like the popular kid who has a bunch of people following them around simply because everyone else is, kind of like a flock of sheep, being #1 is the person or pencil that folks like because of who they are, their friendship is there because they get along with others and don’t waste their time trying to be something they are not, so with this said a true friend is worth a whole lot more than a popular person with a blue million followers, so being this popular keeps them at #2.
Speaking of sheep: When it rains, why don't sheep shrink?
I have asked this a number of times just for the puzzled looks and the laughter that the question brings, I did make the mistake of asking this question of one of the kids we knew in New Mexico who was showing sheep at the fair, the answer came in the form of explaining the content of lanolin in the wool that naturally grows on sheep, thus repelling the water that falls from the sky keeping it from shrinking, now this changed my little joke into a lesson, and made me think in order to keep Granny’s Sweater from shrinking it would have to be made from the wool before the lanolin was removed but would also leave a greasy film on Granny, and if you see sheep shrinking in a rainstorm it is more than likely due to being washed in hot soapy water before the storm rinsed them into mini sheep the size of the laughter I got from the kid explaining the lanolin content in the wool. I’m glad I didn’t ask her if condensed milk comes from smaller cows?
If you try to fail and succeed, which do you do?
Being a failure is something we all fear, and being a success is something we all strive for, this statement allows us to do both but the success we gain here is a failure but if we like failing then the success just ruins the moment. We are always hard on ourselves no matter what we are doing, we say or think things like “I know I can write better than this”, “I could have done a better job on that”, or “If I had only thought before doing that I wouldn’t…” You know what I am saying; we always do better than we give ourselves credit for so with this said the failures we think we are creating are most likely a success if we only look at ourselves with the same eyes our loved ones see us with.
Why is it that when you're driving and looking for an address, you turn down the volume on the radio?
Think about it, you know you do this, I never thought much about it but when I was working while looking for a customer’s house, driving and looking at the service order the volume on the radio was always turned down while looked for the address, does the sound of your favorite song make you unable to recognize addresses? Does the sound of music take your attention into a dimension far far away making you unaware of your surroundings? I don’t have an answer for this one but think it is funny that most of us do this, kind of like pressing harder on the remote even when we know the battery is dead.
If all the world is a stage, where is the audience sitting? The whole world is a stage so to say because no matter what you do there is someone watching you most of the time, and also no matter where you go there are people to watch, so with this said remember that you are being watched so act accordingly because we are an example to a lot of people especially our kids and grandkids.
Being #2 is not so bad because sometimes when you are supposedly #1 it is no more than a number and #2 is a good number to be, failure only comes if you allow it, look for the positives in everything you do and enjoy life even if things don’t go according to plan 100% of the time, sometimes 100% is a bit more than you wanted anyway and if we always got everything we wanted all at once there would be nothing to look forward to.
Turn down your volume and laugh at yourself for doing so, press on that remote to shut off that TV and laugh with your family, talk about what is important to you no matter how minor you think it is, if it is important to you then it is huge and worth sharing with your loved ones, laugh at random statements because love and laughter is not something that is planned it is one of the most random things ever, Laughter is the best medicine they say and love keeps us alive so with this said:
When a cow laughs does milk come out its nose?
I do that, turn down the radio when I'm looking for an address, and I think it is normal!
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure about the milk coming from a cows nose though, but I'm sure I heard the cows laugh when I broke my ankle...but at least I proved that I can't listen to my i-pod and run backwards at the same time!
Yes, there is nothing like a good laugh...and I need one now because I'm ill! 8-(
buahhhhhhhhh!!!
ReplyDeleteNow this is a perfect read after a hard day at the office.. and yeah, i think of these things and many more..
great stuff here.....
My favorite when a cow laughs does milk come out of it's nose...you are too much Jimmy!
ReplyDeleteBRAAAAAAVO, Jimmy!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my most favorite posts! There are so many wonderful and valuable lessons you share here. Humorous, yet so insightful!
"If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?"
LOVE that question, and I never even thought of that before - HA!
And how funny, because I too use to turn the volume down on my car radio while looking for an address. For some reason, the sound distracts me from being able to look - HA!
"When a cow laughs does milk come out its nose?"
Bwhhahahahahahahaha! That's brilliant!
Thanks for the laughs and the wisdom, my friend! Thoroughly enjoyed!
Hey Alice, I still do that too and I think you are right about it being normal :^)
ReplyDelete“but at least I proved that I can't listen to my i-pod and run backwards at the same time!”
I bet I would have broken an ankle too had I tried doing this, yep I can see the cows laughing, just think about the milk flying out of their noses and laugh out loud, can’t have you being ill 8-(
Thank You Lynne, I have a whole list of them and Cindy has to suffer when I read from it Ha Ha.
Laughter really is the best medicine. And our attitudes dictate how often we choose to swallow that medicine. I really like these little life observations, and yes, I turn the radio down too when I'm trying to find something.
ReplyDeleteHey Suzi, That one always made me laugh too :^)
ReplyDeleteRon, I am proud you enjoyed it Buddy, it appears the consensus is that we all must turn down the volume when looking for something Ha Ha
Hey Matty, “Laughter really is the best medicine. And our attitudes dictate how often we choose to swallow that medicine.” Amen my Friend it is totally up to us whether or not we enjoy the laughter and no one else is to blame if we don’t, I will gladly choose that medicine.
Yep, I am a radio-turn-offer when trying to concentrate on something.
ReplyDeleteI think you are always going to be Number 1.
Oh, these questions (despite your attempts to answer them) are going to keep me busy all day! Love the one about turning down the volume. It's so true. Now, I gotta go talk to my pencils and make sure they know they are #1's with me.
ReplyDeleteHey Joe, It is appearing that we all turn down the volume Ha Ha Thank You Sir you too are #1 in my book.
ReplyDeleteHey Betty, The things that make you say Hmmmmm, glad I could help by giving you a few questions to ponder :)
