Yes I Did

Now it is obvious to everyone exactly what I did, I went ahead and added a domain name I have had for several years to my blog, actually combined a couple of my blogs into one, this should be easy..right?

First off I had to change the blog with my domain name back to a blogger address, then transfer all the posts from that one to Jimmys Opinion, now with this done all I had to do was add the domain name rebelwithaclue.com to Jimmys Opinion and rename it RWAC/Jimmys Opinion and we are back in business..right?

Easy enough so it is done, now everything should click right over to the proper page even though someone clicks the old url, and so it works just fine, but have you ever noticed that I just may be a bit of a perfectionist?

I have been driving myself crazy updating links all over the place with the new url even though it works just fine with the old url, no one may notice but I do, so if you notice something not coming up as it should, please let me know.

Today I was going over the stats on my feedburner account and wouldn’t you know that the address to where my email subscribers get their feed from is the old url, so now I have three..count them..three feedburner feeds for Jimmys Opinion, and Yes I Did, I emailed all of my subscribers with a link to the correct feed for the new and improved Jimmys Opinion.

If you got an email with a subject line Change Of Address for Jimmys Opinion please follow the instructions and everything will keep flowing smoothly, just remember to validate the email link when it arrives, and I will delete the old feeds once we have all of your updates made.

If you don’t now but want to get my newest posts in your inbox, add your email to the Jimmy In The Mail, box and hit subscribe, you will get to click a link and add the correct code, then validate a generated email that I put together for your convenience to show you that everything took.

Now there is the scoop on why I am still playing with all the bells and whistles and pushing the buttons, rather than writing a post, this is something that should have been simple..right?

Maybe I should have had Benjamin help me.

  2. After reading all that I'm totally lost ... grins ... but I had no trouble getting here; your name was in the blog roll, I clicked it, and here I am.

    1. Yes it all seems to be working just fine, I'm just being a bit picky on the links and wanted everyone on my mailing list to have a chance to sign up on the correct feed :^)

I get lost myself really easy Ha Ha

  3. I've had no trouble receiving your post feed updates on your new URL, so it's a-okay on my end.

It's odd because when I purchased my own domain name last year, everything went smooth (the post redirect and feed). But I think that may have something to do with the fact that I purchase a new URL and didn't have a precious one.

It's the same with me, some of my old posts still have the old URL, but it immediately redirects to the new URL. I think it takes time for those to switch over to the new URL.

    1. I think this is it in a nutshell Ron, I had used the other domain for quite a few years and most of the stuff I am seeing is hanging over from the old site, I am actually happy with the change so far but you know me--always messing with the code :^)

  4. I think it is great you have simplified your blogs (and I'm sure your writing life too!). All the updating will be worth it in the end. Glad you are back. :-)
