You were saying?

It takes me a while to catch onto things, or to try something new, like ice cream, I really like vanilla bean ice cream, Breyers makes the best natural vanilla ice cream in my opinion, so I just stick with it and rarely get anything different, unless this flavor is not available then I have to think....

Simple things can sidetrack me and take my conversations elsewhere. A random word pops up catching my attention, and the whole conversation turns down a different road.

With me I can be talking about one subject, but thinking about something entirely different, then a word on the subject I'm thinking of comes into my first conversation, and everything shifts.

The thoughts in my head are always shifting, if you could hear the things I think about, that would be a confusing conversation.

But the thoughts that run through my head most people can't hear, and if you can hear them please let me know so I can look at you while I'm thinking.

Genealogy is a good example, I can start out researching one branch of my family tree and a couple hours later I am on a complete different branch or even in another tree, I can't even remember where I started or how I got here.

I can begin searching a several times Great grandfather down my Dad's line and next I know I am on my Moms line reading about a Great Aunt and her love of ice cream.

Ben and Jerrys came out with an ice cream flavor I wanted to try, I do love ice cream, ice cream is one of my most favorite things in the world, besides new socks and I do have a passion for new socks, but I am getting ahead of myself, because I have written a post about socks but haven't posted it yet, I hope you stay tuned because it will be coming soon.

And coming soon is the wedding date of our son Randy, we will be flying out to attend the wedding, in Montana of all places, but I do like going places that I have never been, and I've never been to Montana.

I'm thinking we should go through Cindy's pocketbook before we leave the house this time, I don't really want to go through the big security scandal again, you remember our little experiences with flying in the past.

Past experience tells me to pack lightly, and make sure you have all of your ducks in a row before you leave the house, and speaking of ducks there was a time when Cindy was babysitting a little girl named Emily, we took her to the zoo and she actually had a duck spit on her, oh man that was quite the experience, Monkeys and Duck Feathers tells the whole story.

The only way to get rid of duck spit (other than wipe it off your shirt) was for us to run by either Micky-Dees or DQ, I don’t get too excited about Mickey-Dees but Emily and I always did like a three-foot tall Ice cream cone….

Oh yeah, Ice cream, Ben and Jerrys came out with a flavor a long time ago that I have wanted to try but just have never gotten around to,  last night my blood sugar was on the low end and for a treat Cindy handed me a small container of Ben and Jerrys "Cherry Garcia" ice cream.

Jerry Garcia, do you remember him? Kind of like Elvis, but with the Grateful Dead and not by himself, this ice cream had to be named for him, I wonder if they named an ice cream for Elvis?

Everybody remembers where they were when they heard that Elvis was dead, I remember where I was when I heard Jerry Garcia had died also.

I was actually driving down Interstate 85 going to the lake, I had just taken the exit I needed when on the radio came the news that he had died, Elvis not Jerry Garcia, I was at my brothers house when I heard about Jerry Garcia.

Cherry Garcia, I want to tell you,  that Cherry Garcia ice cream is amazing, it has cherries, it has chocolate fudge flakes and for the most important ingredient, it has ice cream, did I tell you that I love ice cream?

What is your favorite dessert?

    1. I prefer Vanilla but the basic Chocolate or strawberry is good also, staying with these flavors is much easier than trying to figure out something like Moose Tracks... not sure I want to eat that.

Good to see you my friend.

  2. It must be very interesting living in your head!

So many flavors these days that many kids have never try the very best one...Vanilla, and yes Breyers with the vanilla specks is far and away the best. Second choice is Butter pecan.

    1. Hi Sandee, I purposely wrote this one as I thought it ha ha, I think we all begin writing a post and end up way off base at times, either that or it's just me.

That Cherry Garcia was good, I know it's been around a while but that was my first taste, the coffee lovers from Cold Stone sounds pretty good too.

A great day to you also.

  6. My head is spinning! My favorite ice cream is Graeter's coconut chocolate chunk. It's worth the high price! But I love most any dessert, esp. donuts.

  7. My brain runs around from topic to topic, too. When I write a post like that I call it ramble writing because when I start out, I have no idea where it will end.

I LOVE B&J's Cherry Garcia and their Americone Dream. I have met very few ice cream flavors and brands I don't like.

    1. Hello Jean, I think a lot of my posts are rambles before I go back and take out all the stuff that is off track, sometimes all the off track stuff makes for another post though.

I'm like you I do like most any ice cream and can't think of one I don't like, but the Breyers Natural Vanilla is the one I absolutely like the best.

  8. I am a big fan of the 'good' vanilla myself. That Cherry Garcia sounds like something I would like to try. I, too, remember when Jerry Garcia died. (and Elvis)
There is a game show on TV, (can't think of the name of it) that starts out with 7 word spaces. They give you the first word and the last and have zero to do with one another. Contestants have to guess the missing words that form the 'chain' or 'thread' to complete it. I think most of the contestants are idiots, but a lot of people (like you and, ahem, me) think in threads so it's relatively easy.
So, I have to find a store with Ben and Jerry's, huh?

      Good to see you Lady.

  9. HA, well that was a fun read. Ice cream and genealogy and Elvis and traveling and... At least you ended up back at ice cream. I don't know anyone who doesn't like ice cream. I was in the jr. high library with my best friend. We had volunteered to get the place in order before the start of the school year. The radio was on, and we learned that Elvis was dead. And I like vanilla ice cream too.

Isn't it funny how we all remember things like this, I can even recall where I was when I heard John Wayne had died.

I'm glad you enjoyed the read Abby.

I'm not much of a dessert person but I do salivate a little when I see Peppermint Patties.

  12. Favorite dessert? I don't know...you've got me thinking about ice cream, and I really like Edy's French Silk, but I haven't had it in many years, I'd completely forgotten it existed. Thanks for making me fall off the wagon. Or jump back on, if you think like Seinfeld.

I totally understand where you went there, because I do that all the time, I just don't bother to go back and edit it out.

Don't know where I was when Elvis died, but when I heard about the demise of John Wayne, I was standing in front of a fireplace (unlit!) at a college house I rented with a bunch of other girls over the summer, putting my rent check on the mantel for the landlord to pick up when he let himself in. Which is kind of creepy, now that I think about it.

    1. Hi Val, out of everyone I totally expected you to understand where I was going here, I was working on a job site in Chapel Hill, NC building an apartment complex when I heard we had lost John Wayne.

A bunch of college girls renting a house and leaving the rent on the mantle for the landlord to pick up when he let himself in, yes this does sound creepy, evidently more so now than then.

  13. No sooner had I thought of a comment than the subject changed and another comment took it's place. By the time I got to the end all I could think of was ice cream! Love it but don't see what I call proper ice cream now. I would have to go away on holiday to find some. Now that's a good idea!

Keep it up, Jimmy, you're a star!

My favorite ice cream is Butter Pecan. I like chewing things in my ice cream therefore I stay away from the plain stuff.
    My favorite desert is cupcakes!

I like cheesecake and ice cream...and with ice cream, the more chocolate the better. Publix Chocolate Trinity is out of this world!
