It's just a scratch

Oh my God! What did you do?

It's just a scratch I said, Cindy then explained to me that if it were only a scratch blood wouldn't be running down my arm.

Cindy is a born caregiver and I am really blessed to have her, but goodness knows the hair on the back of my neck sure stands to attention when I hear the "Snap, Snap" of her rubber gloves going on.

Cindy’s Dad, our little dog Dixie, and I all snap to attention and look at each other when we hear that sound to see who the gloves are going on for, because if the gloves go on then it is serious.

I was immediately pushed into the bathroom and instructed to hold my arm over the sink, "Snap, Snap" out came her bag of medical supplies, this is a well stocked bag, bandages of all sizes, cleaning solutions, antibiotic ointments, stethoscopes, blood pressure cuffs, chains, whips…etc

My arm was thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, antibiotic ointment applied, tourniquet twisted, gauze wrapped, cast applied, arm placed into sling, and follow up instructions given.

Seriously she cleaned it to her satisfaction and placed a band-aid on the wound, she then told me to be more careful, this is more than just a scratch, when you bleed like this you really need to take care to clean and cover it properly, this will keep it from getting infected, I had to concede that she was right and was released.

As we walked back into the living room, Cindy’s Dad noticed the band-aid on my arm and asked, what happened to him? Cindy replied Oh it's just a scratch.

Do you remove a band-aid gently, or yank it off hair and all?

  1. I always assume that the bleeding carries all germs away from the wound...not always a good assumption.

I pull slowly but generally end up ripping and wincing.

    1. Hey Joe, yes sir my assumptions rarely are as correct as I assume.

Ripping that sucker off is usually the best for me, get it over with and be done with it.

    1. The sight of blood is more than some can handle, but it seems the consensus so far is for the quick yank.

    1. Seems to be the popular way to treat a band-aid.

  5. Rip it off is my method. Joe hated it when I did that, I wonder why? I always thought a blood flow carried germs away. I shall amend my ways in future.

  6. "Oh it's just a scratch."

Bwhahahahahaha! Tell, Cindy I said, THAT WAS FLAWLESS!!!!!!

I just usually yank a Band-Aid off as fast as I can to get it over with; especially if it's on a part of my body that has a lot of hair (like my forearm) because it feels like torture if I take it off slowly.

    1. Hey Ron, yes she has a way with words ha ha

I understand what you are saying, I too have lost a lot of hair due to band-aids, and pulling them off slowly never works for me.

  7. Hmmm... I somewhat suspect that Cindy looks forward to you wounding yourself ;).

As for band-aid removal, I also generally go for the rip method.
